“When in doubt, wear RED!” Quotes about fashion can be as eccentric and as glamorous as fashion itself. Fashion art has to radiate glamour, be cool, edgy and sexy… All of these requirements were needed for Nom Du Jour my first season in fashion or fashion illustration.

Thirty pieces were commissioned. Some were used, some not, and some discarded but by the end of the project The Art of MAXWELL had emerged. Having worked in art and illustration for some years, being shackled by the requirements of brief and client in areas of the industry that paid the bills (rather than igniting my passion), I felt it was time for a change.

What is my passion? Fashion, Celebrity, Glamour and Beauty. Years of reading Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harpers Bazaar, Elle and Tatler, whilst following great designers such as Tom Ford, Dolce and Gabbana, Chanel, Vivienne Westward, Versace, Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs (the list is endless).

Watching stars radiate beauty such as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Ann Margret, Cher, Grace Kelly and Barbra Streisand.

These coupled with my love of artists that celebrated fashion such as Tissot, John Singer Sargent, Toulouse Lautrec to more modern masters, René Gruau, Bob Peak, Kenneth Paul Block and David Downton.

Being a Water Colour Artist I work traditionally and then enhance the piece digitally. All art featured in the MAXWELL site is available as licensable images, limited edition prints and original art, or if you would like a bespoke commission or portrait, please feel free to contact me.

This project has set me free, I hope you enjoy the art and I look forward to creating my next collection.
